Twitter To Success

by JeD on June 14, 2009

It is said that in order for you to be successful, you must surround yourself with successful people. So what can Twitter do for you? Well, follow successful personalities. Literally. Better yet, stalk them!

What I love about Twitter is it’s flexibility. You can use it to tweet your thoughts, tweet what your are doing, tweet something that happened to you, tweet what are your reading, tweet your products, basically tweet whatever things you wish to tweet.

Guess what, famous personalities such as Britney Spears, Shaq, Robert Kiyosaki, Oprah, and Barack Obama are also doing the same thing in Twitter. Bit by bit you can understand what lifestyle they are living, how they do their stuffs, what are their thoughts, whom are they following, etc., etc., etc., And I know that we can learn tons of things from them that we can apply as we go through our journey to success.

Here’s a simple tutorial to follow them with ease and more effective:

Since I use TweetDeck, this tutorial is only dedicated to TweetDeck users, Peacemen :) . Perhaps you can also apply this to other Twitter Apps.

You just have to create a group dedicated for those famous personalities.

tweetdeck group

Then name it as you wish. Since I only follow a handful of personalities, I mixed in some news tweets so I named my group, “Personalities and News.” Then check who are the personalities you wish to add to the group.

After doing all that, you can now see a new column for your new group in your TweetDeck.

Congratulations! You’re all done. You can now enjoy and learn from the tweets of your most admired personalities.

I wish you all the success! Happy Tweetting!

Okay, I’m gald I visited this blog before going to bed! Whohooo!!! I saw my name on the sample picture! Great! That twitterbot does magic. hehehe. Funny how it followed all my tweets with the word badminton.

Now, about the post, you are right, surrounding yourself with a lot of popular peeps make you popular as well, “Hey, that’s the blogger who’s friends with Shaq!” Even if they don’t know who you are, you are still included in the sentence and people recognize you. In some form or another, I think it adds to the traffic. some curious cat would follow you to your website and eventually add you to their list. Okay, it might be, add to the list (first) before following you to your site.

Whatever it is, twitter is a phenomenon.

Looks like I will be using tweetdeck soon. I’ll install it tomorrow.

So that’s how you do it. It’s an interesting and doable concept, but how can you be sure you’re following the real one? I read that Britney’s was “imitated?” . Thanks for providing more info.

@Jena Isle: Well, there are no guarantees but making a little research would be helpful. ;) And I think as you stalk someone, you’ll eventually feel whether they’re real or not. :)

Perhaps we could also help each other by posting the real accounts of those respected people.

Here are some of the confirmed accounts:

Shaq – http://twitter.com/the_real_shaq

Robert Kiyosaki – http://twitter.com/therealkiyosaki

Barack Obama – http://twitter.com/barackobama

MC Hammer – http://twitter.com/mchammer

Well when it comes to Britney’s, I got her account from Mashable, which is a very reliable source. Perhaps we should confirm it first. :)

God Bless!

@Zorlone: Hey! what does twitterbot does by the way? What twitter apps are you using? Yeah I would recommend TweetDeck, though I haven’t tried any other Twitter Apps.

Cheers!

There are several Twitbots or twitterbots. If you follow them, they will RT all your tweets. But, it will also RT all the tweets in your timeline.

Like that badminton tweet thing from 2_sports, it RTs all tweets with the word badminton, like the one showed in the picture above. That one followed me.

I am using twittergadget, I don’t have to download anything and no space is used in my laptop, I still haven’t installed tweetdeck. hehehe. Hopefully, later. Will just do some scientific work first.

@Roy: I haven’t tried any other apps since I used TweetDeck, so that simply means it’s working pretty well. =)

Jed,

I wont recommend those bots. They are spammers on twitter. The best RTs you’ll get are from other Twitterers.

Who speaks my name? Ah it’s the great Doc Z. Ahahaha. Lakas ng pang amoy ko noh? lols

Doc Z is right. Nothing beats fellow tweeters at the game of RT. It’s more natural and have more weight.

I’m a tweetdeck fanatic, too. But when internet connection gets acrawling I use twittergadget. It sits right on my gmail – at the sidebar. Of course, I can also make it pop out like a regular page. And I can go ka-pow! ka-pow! with my tweets like the great tweetdeck.

Bad news for me – my adobe air files got corrupted. No one to blame – I share the desktop with nobody at home. So I can’t upgrade to the latest edition of tweetdeck.

Nice post, Jed. I can smell it from miles away. Ahahaha
