After several months of limbo between Tumblr and WordPress, I finally settled down with WP. My reason is the same as my previous post, that Tumblr is blocked by the Great Firewall of China. Though blogging in Tumblr is easy, fun and have a very warm community, I cannot erase the fact that there are still some percentage of readers in China that MIGHT want to read my useless posts.

In addition to that, as I recently became more hands-on on building our company’s blog, I’m enjoying the freedom of doing whatever I want with the blog. And I think that it would be all worth it because at the end of the day, it is your blog your working on. It’s not Tumblr’s nor WordPress’, it’s yours. – and you decide until when your site lives.

***

On the other note, I’m currently working on something with this blog. I would like to apologize in advance for the down times that may occur. Thank You!

I just observe that the more time I spend on work, the less time I give to blogging. Again, I would like to terribly apologize about that.

But now with the help of WordPress on Android, I’m hoping that I can somehow manage to post more often. I’m actually using the app to write this post.

The downside that I observed so far about this app is that I couldn’t see what would be the post look like. And another one is I cannot configure, nor tweak, its SEO using the wordpress plug-in installed in the platform.

In any case, I’m really excited to use this app to help me blog. It’s better than nothing I guess..

**

Sorry but I would like to also take this opportunity to announce that I and Great Wall North EDSA will be participating in Manila International Auto Show tomorrow at World Trade Center in Manila. It’s a grand annual event that car makers are looking forward to each year.

Sorry I still don’t know how to post the link here..might as well google about MIAS for more information.

Isn’t it nice when your readers frequently leave very good comments in your post? It feels like you want to give them great rewards. However, the quality and the mediocre commentators get the same reward when they comment on your blog:

Exposure and Link.

But then, we want to give our quality commentators better rewards, better edge to separate them from the mediocre commentators. Or better yet, we want to SPOIL THEM! – Positively.

So here are some ways to spoil your quality commentators.

1. Recent Comments:

I believe WordPress has a built-in Get Recent Comments widget. By putting this widget, you’re showcasing your latest commentators. The more frequent they comment, the more exposure they’ll get.

**Note: Get recent comments widget also place the link of your posts that are commented. This is also a good exposure for your post and it also sends some link-juice to that post.

2. Top Commentators:

There’s a plug-in called Top Commentators that showcases your top commentators based on the number of comments they post. This rather the same with Get Recent Comments, the only difference is the top commentators’ name will be sticky. Meaning more and constant link + exposure for them.

3. Best Commentator/s Of The Month:

Perhaps you can dedicate a post for the best commentator/s of your blog for the month. You may brand them as your “Best of the Best” commentator or your “Top 10 Best Commentators.” Make a review of them and their sites to show deeper gratitude for giving quality comments on your posts.

4. Best Commentator Button:

Award your best commentators with a button which they can display on their blog. This button shall symbolize how the blogger gives quality comments and may help increase their reputation as a blogger/commentator.

5. Show Personal Gratitude:

Show your sincerity by showing your gratitude in a more personal manner. You can send a “Thank You” email for your very first commentators. Or better yet, a “Thank You” flowers.

6. Give Them Some Juice!:

I believe this is the ultimate spoiler. Give out some link-juice to your best commentators! However, WordPress tagged comments as No-Follow by default. This will prevent link leakage and abuse of the comments section. You can use the plug-in called ‘No-Follow Case by Case‘ to strip off no-follow in comments. You can also selectively apply no-follow to comments you don’t wish to give juices.

*

Better commentators definitely deserves a better treatment.

How do you spoil your commentators?

P.S. I already installed No-Follow Case By Case. Orange juice anyone? Cheers!

I’ve installed the WordPress.com Stats plug-in but it seems kind of funny. Look at the image above, it says that my post “Glad to be Back” have 21 views but there were no spikes or some sort of wave on the chart. I also doubt that it already have 21 views because I’ve just posted that entry awhile ago.

I tried to search if there’s a way to reset the stats, but unfortunately there’s no way to reset it, at least for now. I also deactivate and reactivate it, but it’s no use. I deleted the whole plug-in then downloaded and reinstall the new one, disappointingly nothing seem to have worked.

I’m still researching a way to fix this. If can’t fix it maybe I should try statpress or google analytics.
