1. Gmail (Android; Free) and Mail (iOS; Free) – Emails are very essential to my business, so I use both Apps so that whichever device I’m carrying, phone or iPad, I can check my emails right away.
2. iWork for iPad: Pages, Numbers, Keynote (iOS; Paid) – This is where I primarily do all of my Office Works. I can easily bring my iPad anywhere and type my project, review statements, or do presentations. It is so convenient and fun to work with. Investment is really worth it.
3. Wunderlist (Android, iOS, OSX; Free) – I have already tried several To-Do list, but I settled on this App. One of the things that I like about it is it is available on Android, iOS and Mac OS X; and they sync seamlessly. You can even share your list to other users or via email.
4. Evernote (Android, iOS, OSX; Free, Upgradable to premium) – A very easy to use Notepad that syncs with Android, iOS, and Mac OS X.
5. iCal (iOS; Free) – I use this as my main Calendar App. Android has its own calendar, but I’m not much of a fan of it. So far, in my opinion, no other calendar app comes close to iCal.
6. Chatter App (iOS; Free) – Chatter.com is our company’s Private Networking Site. All of our important coordination/communication are in there. I use this app to conveniently collaborate with my team. Android has its own chatter app, but I think it is still on its beta state.
7. Dropbox App (iOS, Android; Free) – We use Dropbox.com as our company’s main “cloud” or file sharing service.
8. JEFIT (Android; Free) – I use this as my Workout Organizer. I can’t go to the gym without this.
9. A HIIT Timer (Android; Free) – Trying to manually time a HIIT or High-Intensity Interval Training alone may seem impossible, but this App just made it possible. My training is 20 seconds sprint and 40 seconds jog/walk for 10 cycles. Learn more about HIIT.
10. Entrepreneur Mobile (Android; Free) – I use this App to read Entrepreneur.com if I need to kill time.
11. Financisto (Android; Free) – My Personal finance manager.
12. Twitter (Android, iOS; Free) – I’m a big Twitter fan. Follow me: @jedchan.

1. Maps (Android, iOS; Free) – Used when going to unfamiliar places.
2. PicLyf Snap (Android; Free) – For easy Photo-Sharing on PicLyf.com.

4. Sound Hound (Andriod; Free) – I use this if there is a song that I really like, but do not know the title. All I have to do is to hum on it or record a sample of the song. Though it still cannot recognize 100% of all songs.
5. Yahoo Messenger App (Android; Free) – A convenient way to chat with my YM friends on Android.

I recently observed that I’m being quite enthusiastic about social bookmarking sites; I find myself reading and studying more about them these past few weeks. Well I guess no one can blame me about that, because social bookmarking is indeed fun and very useful.

A lot of bloggers are venturing, incorporating their blogs with social bookmarking sites. But I observed, as I read across forums and blogs, that almost 70% of bloggers says that social bookmarking is not working for them, and that they prefer to use other services such as MyBlogLog and Entrecard. Well I guess this is so because they use bookmarking sites to only one purpose: To generate traffic. It’s their only basis whether social bookmarking is for them or not.

Generating traffic is just one of the power social bookmarking sites has. If a blogger wants to be successful in social bookmarkings, he must learn how to explore and exploit the powers it possess:

THE POWER OF QUALITY CONTENTS

In bookmarking sites, bookmarkers bookmark contents that they find interesting and valuable. Which means quality contents are sifted out from mediocre contents, making the resources in social bookmarking sites very rich. Gaining free access to these rich contents is indeed a privilege.

If you ran out of ideas to post in your blog, contents from social bookmarking sites can give you brilliant post ideas. You can share, reblog, recycle, or use it as reference. Just don’t forget to pingback.

THE POWER OF RAPPORT BUILDING

The members of social bookmarking sites are very diverse, from big time entrepreneurs to plain house wives. With this, social bookmarking sites are firm grounds to build-up rapport. Some social bookmarking sites such as Furl does not use “No-Follow” tags. Meaning bloggers can benefit from them by receiving some “link-juice” which can help increase their blog’s Page Rank. Google prioritizes blogs/sites that has higher Page Rank.

THE POWER OF RIPPLE EFFECT

A bookmarker bookmarks a content then share it to another bookmarker. If this bookmarker finds it valuable, he’ll bookmark it and share to another bookmarker…and so on and so forth.. This is a powerful way spread the knowledge or the information.

We can benefit in 2 ways:

1. If the content was shared to you, it has a high probability that the content shared is valuable.
2. Just imagine if your content is being spread this way. Traffic!

THE POWER TO BOOKMARK

Getting back to basics. With lots of benefits social bookmarking sites offer, people may tend to overlook what bookmarking is all about. The ability to simply bookmark contents you find is very valuable. This can help you gather contents that is important to your research or study. It is also a nice way to collect articles that you find very interesting and worthy to be shared.

I find bookmarking sites very handy especially if I found a very valuable article but don’t have the luxury of time to read it.

Page Rank Algorithm

My mission for my blog right now is to build traffic. So I dig deep into the cyberspace to research how to effectively build traffic for blogs. I’m hoping to find some tips from professional bloggers, or perhaps some insights on where to start. I’ve read about submitting your site to directories, joining social networks and bookmarking sites, participating in forums, and many others. I’ve already read a lot about them lately but I’m still exploring how to use them effectively. But one article had caught my attention when it mentioned about SEO and Page Rank, frankly speaking this is fairly new to me.

I’m completely lost trying to relate or connect what the article is saying to my own stocked knowledge. Gladly, I found a photo, the one on top, that clearly illustrate how Page Rank works. The way I interpret it Page Rank is calculated by the links you give and receive. The more links you receive, the more it increases your Page Rank – and vice-versa. And the higher your Page Rank the more your site will be effective on Search Engines. I’m quite worried with this because I used to be very generous in giving links. As much as possible I link to other sources so that my readers won’t have a hard time finding what I am writing about. I even refer them to other sites which I think would be helpful for them without any reciprocal links. I’ve also read that Blogroll is not exempted  in hurting your Page Rank, which made we worry even more. Well, it seems like links are very expensive.

As you may observe, I have cleaned some post in my archives of any unneccessary outbound links. Increasing our inbound links is essential. As a matter of fact, our site can also benefit from using tags, related posts, recent posts, and top posts according to one article.

I’m still encountering new terms and new informations regarding Page Rank. Perhaps there’s still a lot of factors that should be considered in calculating our Page Rank, but I think links is their bread and butter.
