I’m having this little dilemma. I’ve read from an article that sponsored posts or reviews can really hurt your Page Rank badly. Why? because most companies that offer sponsored reviews require at least 3 links from you to them – meaning more outgoing links from your site. One article also says that even mentioning the company’s name can also cost your Page Rank.
Before I get to know this information, I’ve already signed up with a company that offers sponsored posts though my site is still on queue for admin review. I signed up with them out of curiosity and of course to earn a little extra to keep my blog going. I also thought that having a sponsored post can come in handy when I ran out of ideas on what to post.
As I came to know about the information regarding sponsored posts, I’m thinking of withdrawing my site from the company. But since my site was still on queue for how many days, I thought my site has been disapproved. Well as of yesterday, I got an email from the company saying that my site has been approved. Now I’m torn whether to continue or not. I wanted to increase my Page Rank and traffic, but what I can earn from sponsored posts can really support my blog.
I searched the web for answers, and there are different opinions among bloggers. Some are willing to sacrifice their Page Rank because the bulk of their earnings came from sponsored reviews, and they’re paid quite good amount of money. Some regretted that they have accepted sponsored posts because their Page Rank decreased dramatically, from PR4 to PR0. Now they’re trying to revive their Page Rank, and a lot of things should be done – cleaning outgoing links might be their first step. Others rely on different source of income such as ads.
Well I’m into building traffic for my blog right now, and money is just secondary. Perhaps I should just build enough traffic and put up some clean ads that will bring passive income to support my blog. Sponsored reviews can be quite toxic because you will only get paid after every review.
