The Second Christmas

by JeD on December 25, 2008

It’s officially Christmas day! We have just opened our gifts, and we already had our Noche Buena. This our second year to celebrate Christmas in our new home. After noche buena, we (my younger brother and sister) headed to our cousins’ place (where we also lived before). I’m so happy to celebrate Christmas with them once again. We have been celebrating Christmas together for the past 21 years until we moved to our new house. When we arrive, I felt kind of nostalgic seeing our rooms, the kitchen, and all the places in that house. The smell, the feel, and the memories are just coming back to me. In this house we had witnessed each other grow. This is were family and friendship were molded among cousins. As we are reminiscing the crazy things we have done before, we just can’t help but to laugh our heart out. We also missed how they eagerly unwrap their very unique gifts, it’s just priceless. Well this is the second Christmas that we no longer live under one roof. It’s kind of sad, but I know that we’ll be always part of that house. I know that we’re always welcome to celebrate with them no matter what the occasion is.

Celebrating Christmas has never been this way before. Not only the second year to celebrate Christmas in our new home, but also the second year for me to celebrate Christmas at the office. Yes, you heard me right, I’m celebrating Christmas day at work! I know I’m missing a lot from my family, but what can I do? I have to work on Christmas day. Well when you think of it, Christmas day is a holiday. And if I’m not mistaken, it will be paid double! I can earn extra, so I should be happy right? Wrong. If I could just have a choice, I’ll chose to be with my family this Christmas. Screw the double pay, the time with my family can’t be amounted to.

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you’re having a great time with your family! ;)
