I’m not sure if this is just a coincidence. But these past few days, I have observed that everytime I eat chocolates I get an acne breakout. This is quite strange because as far as I could remember, this has not happened to me before.
My skin is oily and it is prone to acne but I’m taking a serious care of it, and I’m happy that my face is now clearing up from acne. That’s why I became concerned when I got breakouts after eating chocolate – at least from what I observed. I asked my friends and family about chocolate causing acne, and they seems to be confirming with what I’ve observed. I’m not that worried because I’m not a super fan of chocolates. I just want to know if I should stay away from it the next time I’m tempted to have one.
Getting really curious, I researched about the relationship between chocolate and acne. I Googled it and gladly I came across with these articles: The Chocolate and Ance Myth, Does Chocolate Actually Cause Acne?, and Does Eating Chocolate Cause Acne? The question seems very popular and the answer is a solid “No.” Though there are some people in this discussion said otherwise.
I remember when my mother used to remind me not to eat potato chips and other oily stuffs becauseĀ my face might get too oily and acne will breakout. I also remember when my dermatologists have different opinions regarding food and acnes. Perhaps there’s no clear or direct link between chocolates – or food, in general – and acnes.
I’ve consumed chocolate last night to test if I’m going to have a breakout today, gladly there still none.

Consume plenty of healthy foods: fruits, vegetables, milk, etc. A little junk food won’t harm.
Put everything in moderation.
