My Greatest Gratitude to these Anti Acne Solutions

No, I’m not a beauty blogger so perhaps you’ll see post like this rarely on this blog. But I just want to grab this opportunity to thank and express my greatest gratitude to these anti acne facial solutions.

I have a very oily skin..as in veeerryyy..my cousins used to tease me that they can already fry an egg on my face. Well anyways..the first time I really got acne outbreaks is when I was on 6th grade, but then I’m not really that conscious about my skin. When I stepped first year high school to college until my first job, acne has been my ultimate hindrance in everything I do. I seldom go out because acne really lowered down my self-esteem. It’ll also take me forever in the bathroom trying to conceal my acne and blemishes with a concealer before going out the house. I can’t go out without bringing a concealer with me; need it when I re-touch. :)

Only God knows how much I’ve already spent for products and to dermatologist just to treat my “unending” acne breakouts. For more or less 9 years I’ve been jumping to one product and dermatologist to another. I’ve tried lasers, and other latest dermatological procedures just to clear up my acne. I also endure the weekly pain as I visit my derma and extract all the pulp on my face. But what can I do, No Pain No Gain right?

Glady, when I’m still working at Megaworld Corporation, one of my colleagues, Alvin Lim, referred me to a very good dermatologist.

Thanking my dermatologist: Dra. Paula Edna Reyes-Gatan, M.D.

Of all the dermatologist I’ve went through, she is the only one who have actually treated my acne. One thing I really like about her is that she’s very hands-on to all her patients. Did I mentioned that she’s also the cheapest? Most of her prescriptions are bought over the counter, so you can source out where can you find the cheapest. Her consultation fee is also very affordable. She’ll also give you advice on how can you cut the costs.

**Dra. Gatan’s clinic is located at 2/F Shoppesville Arcade Greenhills, San Juan. Contact number: 723-35-18. Clinic opens on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Thanks to these products; how I use them:

Just a little disclaimer, the way I use these products were not advised by professionals. I use these products the way I’m using them now is simply because I find the regimen effective on ME. Every each one of us has different skin types, so it doesn’t guarantee that if it’s effective on me, it’s also effective on you, on her, or on him. :)

Since I have a very oily skin, I rely more on cleansers. I don’t use moisturizers and astringents. Just facial cleansers and scrubs.

I have these 5 products on rotation: (No it doesn’t include Pro-activ)

Cetaphil: Oily Skin Cleanser

Product of Galderma. I must say that this is the best cleanser that’s been working for me. I use this twice a day morning and noon. A 125ml will cost less than 500php (10.4usd). Lasts around a month and a half.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser

A product of Neutrogena with salicylic acid. I use this night time alternate with scrubs. Will cost around 250php (5.2usd). Lasts for 2 months, depends on usage.

Celeteque Gentle Exfoliating Wash

Renew your skin by exfoliating. Contains Dual Vitamin Nourishing Beads. I use this night time alternate with Deep Clean and the other scrub. 60ml costs less than 200php (4.1usd). Can last for 2-3 months, depends on usage.

Ionax Scrub

Another product of Galderma. An abradant skin cleanser especially made for acne and oily skin conditions. I really love this scrub. I use it night time alternate with Deep Clean and Celeteque Exfoliation Wash. Costs around 450php (9.4usd). Can really last for a long time, depends on usage.

Stiefel Duac Gel

A once a day gel. Just apply it on the whole face after washing at night time. There are 2 sizes available small (10g) and big (err..sorry forgot how many grams. Will update as soon as I got the information.) I usually buy the large one if budget is not that tight, otherwise stick to the small one. Small costs around 800php (16.6 usd) and large around 1300php (27usd). Lasts for about a month on small and large 1 and half months to 2 months, depends on the usage. I also apply it on infected area in the morning if I had outbreaks.

These are the products that I use daily. Cetaphil and Duac Gel is my bread and butter. I can give less priority to other products but not the two. If you’re asking why I didn’t include Ponds, I don’t know..perhaps Ponds is not very friendly with my face. I always get pimples whenever I use Ponds.

Forgive me if I can’t provide any before and after photo, but I’m really happy with my skin now. I just need to fix some of my blemishes and find a solution to minimize black heads. I’m just glad my acne outbreaks is resolved. *knock on wood* *pwera usog*

Dr. Paula Gatan has a blog? I think her clinic needs it. Think of the many she can help through her blog. And the good thing is you can help her set it up. If I have your talent, I’d offer my services. lols.

Fry an egg on your face? Wicked cousins huh? But I love their sense of humor. Must be fun company, your cousins. :)

@LJ: Well that would really be a plus points to her career, but I never really got the chance to open it up to her.

      Talent on what LJ? :)

You bet they are. We lived under one roof for 21 years until we moved to another place, that’s why I don’t just treat them as cousins but brothers and sisters. God I miss them so much. huhu ;-(

Putting up a blog, Jed. And tweak the design as you’ve done here. Plus you can give her tips on the proper way to blog so she can grow her business a lot more. :)

@LJ: I think I only have average knowledge about blogging. I rely much from other resources..

The truth is..I started this blog sharing about blogging because I’m still new in blogging. I read, digest, and share how I learned about blogging. It’s seems like my blog is just a byproduct from other blogging resources. But now I think there’s more to blogging that I must explore. A more passion and purpose driven blog. :D (Ang serious ko naman hahaha..)

God Bless LJ!! Hope to see you in person. :D

I’ve the same insecurity about my blog, Jed. Believe it or not. I remembered going into one forum for writers. There’s this writer I respect and he was saying he’s very irritated with bloggers who have joined blogging and yet giving tips about blogging. That shocked me because there’s truth to what he said. I left immediately and never went back. I felt slapped in the face.

On the other hand, I have this great friend who consoled me. He said I have true knowledge based on my experience. Does my being a newbie prevent me from teaching my insights based on my experience. And that has restored my shaky faith. A little. Ahehehe.

It’s not obvious eh? Well, perhaps because I write passionately? Si gigil ako eh. Un ang temperament ng family namin. Gigil. Pero of course I know how to relax na rin. I have to unless I want to expend myself unnecessarily. We will do well, Jed. We’re quick learners naman eh. Take heart. :)

@LJ: Thanks so much for that LJ. I really felt very relieved and comfortable the moment I’m reading your comment. I can truly relate to what you’re saying.

There are times when I also feel “gigil” about something. Seriously, I felt insecure towards other blogs. I kept asking myself how can they do that? How come I couldn’t? So I tried dressing-up my blog, posting everyday, and all that..I’m so gigil to be part of the race as everyone else. But I felt like no matter what I do, I’m still stucked behind, or worse being not part of the race. I then felt frustrated and disappointed..I don’t enjoy blogging anymore..Told myself that I’m such a loser.

I prayed about it. And as days go by..I realized that: Why would I sacrifice my joy of blogging for my selfishness? If there’s one blogger that I should compete with, it’s myself, JeD Chan. It’s nice to see how your recent post improved from your previous post. :D

I don’t know why I keep coming back to blogging. I already told myself that I want to retire from blogging, but here I am replying to your comments on my post. Does this mean I really love blogging? :D hmmm…

Sorry if I got a little emo.. Thanks for all your support! Especially to my Lolo Jan. :D
I’ll do my best to improve my blogging. :D Hope I’m not wasting your time. :)

We both have the same oily face. As for me, I buy my anti acne solutions in DermClinic in SM Megamall. They have these one set that cost around P1,300.

i agree with you… Dra. Gatan also saved my battered skin… i have acne breakouts on both of my cheeks, aside from the fact that she’s hands-on on her patients, she’s also not the type of doctor who’s pushing you to use ONLY her products. When she prescribed me with a regimen, she asked me the current products im using and advised me which ones i could keep on using, which is great since it shows she’s not after the money/sales, instead with the outcome.

I cant wait to go back for my 2nd consultation (although my skin has improved drastically!)

Dra. Gatan is really a highly recommended/commendable Dermatologist!

Thanks so much for sharing. Very well said, I believe I cannot add anything more to that. :-) Dra. Gatan is indeed highly recommended. Looking forward to the betterment of your skin! God Bless!

Jed, I'm a christian entrepreneur also. How do you deal with situations that come up where you are tempted to make a decision that goes against our morals and beliefs?

hi jed! i got ecstatic when i read ur blog. because as it is, Dra. Gatan is also my dermatologist. its been 4 years now. and just like you, she was the only dermatologist who was able to solve all my acne woes. I got hold of her through my aunt’s friend who works in the US and basically just buys her beauty treatments from Dra. Gatan whenever she comes home to the Phils. I am really grateful to this excellent doctor. How I wish though that she would put up a clinic here in Metro Manila, because I really put up an effort just to go see her in Grennhills. Oh well, the effort’s well worth it anyway :) hope to see you one of these days in her clinic! :)

    • http://jedchan.com JeD Chan

Hey! Thank you for your very nice comment. If I’m not mistaken, she also has another clinic in the province. Well, it’s actually farther from your place I think. ;P Sure! I’m glad to see you at her clinic. I go there once a month. :)

    • http://jedchan.com JeD Chan

Sorry, I believe I have already replied to your comment. :) In any case, I already brought that to Dra. Gatan if she can still manage to open a clinic at Manila area. =) I usually visit her every first Monday of the month. Hope we can bump each other there sometime. God Bless!
