I’m quite really envious to those people who really knows what they want in life, and pursue it no matter what.
After I published my post “Choosing the Right Path,” I began to think, is there really a ‘Right’ path? What if the path that you thought was right, is actually wrong? On the other hand, What if the path you didn’t chose is the right one? Hmm..it’s getting quite complicated isn’t it?
Let’s take a look at these situations, digest it a little bit, and see whether these individuals are on the “Right” path: (By the way, majority of these are my friends)
I have these 2 friends, both male. One loves music and dreamed of having his own band. The other is a food critic, he loves to cook and wants to be a chef someday. These are their dreams since high school, or perhaps since elementary. The music lover took a music course which eventually led him to his dream. Now, he’s a guitarist of a band and he also have his own recording studio at home. The food lover, on the other hard, was enrolled by his parents to a prestigious university but with the course that he didn’t like. Eventually after a year, he left the university and enrolled himself to a culinary school. He’s now a part time chef while getting more knowledge in another culinary school.
(Are they on the “Right” path?)
Another one:
A classmate since high school to college. I’m really not sure what is his dream, but he took a course same as mine: Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Institutional Management. After he graduate, he said that he’s now working for their own family’s light fixtures business. They sell home lighting such as chandeliers and more. They have different branches which he visits and supervise everyday. I’m not sure if this was his choice, or he was told to work there. But in most Chinese families, it is often a culture to work for your own family’s business after you graduate (Same applied to his siblings who also work in their business).
(Is he on the “Right” path?)
Last one:
As I watched a documentary last night on TV. They tackled the issues and the life of gangs. One 15 year old kid was part of a very famous gang and he was asked about what he wants to be when he grow up. Suprisingly, he said that he wants to be a gang leader or “O.G. – Original Gangster” so that he would be RESPECTED. He also said that he also wants to lead a syndicate. I guess being in the gang led him closer to his dream.
(Is he on the “Wrong” path?)

Well, I’m beginning to think that there’s no “Right” path, but “Your Own” path. You’re the only one who can say whether the path you have chosen is “Right or Wrong.”
Perhaps the only thing we can do is choose Our Own path wisely.
What do you think?
