Social bookmarking sites has only one purpose – to bookmark; Well at least that’s the ‘main’ role of bookmarking sites. But then it is called “Social” bookmarking, which allows us to share what we are bookmarking. Not only that, these services also helps us organize bookmarks and collaborate with other bookmarkers. As we all know, social bookmarking is a great way to socialize and increase traffic (for bloggers).
But there’s a better news for us bloggers. Social bookmarking does not only help us increase our traffic, but increase our Page Rank as well.
Thank you very much Bingkee and Lea for commenting on my posts regarding Sponsored Posts and Page Ranks. With that, it had brought new light on how I could somehow take charge of my Page Rank by controlling “Link Juice” with the help of “No-Follow Tags.”
I’m reading a lot about ‘no-follow’ tags lately, I wonder what it really does and how can it help to save ‘link-juices.’ It was announced by Google early 2005, and this was used to tell search engines or spiders to not follow a link – or more like do not score this link. The link still exist but no link-juices are transferred. Well according to what I’ve read, it’s not transferring the link-juice per se but there’s a computation that diminishes your page rank when you link to other pages.
I’m having this little dilemma. I’ve read from an article that sponsored posts or reviews can really hurt your Page Rank badly. Why? because most companies that offer sponsored reviews require at least 3 links from you to them – meaning more outgoing links from your site. One article also says that even mentioning the company’s name can also cost your Page Rank.
Before I get to know this information, I’ve already signed up with a company that offers sponsored posts though my site is still on queue for admin review. I signed up with them out of curiosity and of course to earn a little extra to keep my blog going. I also thought that having a sponsored post can come in handy when I ran out of ideas on what to post.
My mission for my blog right now is to build traffic. So I dig deep into the cyberspace to research how to effectively build traffic for blogs. I’m hoping to find some tips from professional bloggers, or perhaps some insights on where to start. I’ve read about submitting your site to directories, joining social networks and bookmarking sites, participating in forums, and many others. I’ve already read a lot about them lately but I’m still exploring how to use them effectively. But one article had caught my attention when it mentioned about SEO and Page Rank, frankly speaking this is fairly new to me.
“How many tires does a car have?” Most of the time, my friends would normally answer: “FOUR!” And then I go “EEEEERRRR!!! WROONG!!” Then they go “Huh? Wha? Wrong? Whada? Oh yeah, got it. How could I forget THE SPARE TIRE.”
Oh yes, ‘THE’ spare tire. I don’t know why people often forget this very important tire. Our family is running a transportation business, and I can’t even count how many times these spare tires saved our trips. It is very very essential to always have a back-up of everything for everything, as one of my colleagues says “If you don’t have a Plan B, you don’t have Plan.” Simple back-ups can really save us from complicated instances: A back-up of car keys can save our time and our car’s window, A back-up of house keys can save our door knobs, and so on..I remember when I work 12 hours just to re-collate our month-end report because the file got corrupted, and we didn’t have any back-up file for that report.
“They’re just like rolling their 1000 peso bill and then burning it.” that’s how my professor in college used to describe cigarette smokers. I have tried smoking before in high school. I smoked out of curiosity and by some influence of friends. But then I just smoke occasionally, and eventually quit after 3 months. Until now I can’t understand why a lot of people are addicted to smoking. I experienced it myself and I didn’t find anything addicting to it. Perhaps I was just one of those fortunate people who didn’t like smoking so much that’s why I didn’t have a hard time quitting. I know a lot of people struggles and pays so much just to quit smoking.
I don’t get it, we all know that smoking is bad for your health. It can cause bad breathe, pigmentation of gums, darkening of teeth, and other harmful effects. Smoking kills, in fact I have read in this article that Cancer can overtake heart disease as world’s top killer by 2010 due to rising tobacco use. Perhaps people who never mind these kind of risks may have a very good reason.
A few more days, a few more pages, I’ll finally be able to completely read the whole Our Daily Bread for the year. This is my first time to complete these daily dose of God’s inspired lives that are shared by others. After more than 11 months of reading, there’s one story that seemed to be imprinted in my heart. And that’s what I’m about to share..
